Adams lake trip canceled.
It has been decided to cancel the family day planned for New Year's Day at Adam lake. The forecast is predicting temperatures to only reach -26, plus windchill on top of that. We have decided to cancel the event and possibably reschedule it for a weekend in the new year.

Venturers, whoever is bring hot chocolate, please make sure you have enough for all the venturers and scouts. Everyone should bring there own mug for mug-up.
Either park at the too of the hill on Braecrest or at the bottom at the Sportsplex. Same regular time. Family is always welcomed.
Speaking of family, please note that our winter family outting to Adam Lake (Turtle Mountain Provincial Park) is set for January first. Bring your poles for fishing, snowshoes, skis, sled, and if course, your family.

Next week's Potluck
I want to put a shout out to the Venturers and Scouts. The gym will need to be set up with table and chairs for the potluck dinner on Thursday night. If you can, please aid the leaders with setting up the tables and chairs at 6 pm.
A reminder that the scouts will be saying grace. I am bit sure if you guys got to this last week. But if you can, please come prepared to say a short grace for dinner. Again, this is part of your citizenship and leadership requirements for your awards.
Parents and family members are welcomed and encouraged to attend the dinner. The more the merrier.

Thanks to my friend, local photographer Sandy Black, I am happy to share a couple of pictures he took of our Scout group at this year's Remembrance Day ceremony held at Westman Place.

As part if their badge requirements, the Scouts will be conducting grace with a short investiture of Whyatt and Bret.

Wooden woggle idea
This was my second go-round with the wooden woggle craft the Cub Scout worked on. Basswood blanks started off square with a hole drilled into the centre for the scarf. Using my pocket knife and a small carving chisel, I was able to carve out a Venturer logo. Now, I am thinking of using my wood burner to darken the "V" followed by a coat of tung oil to protect the wood.

Dec. 5th, Potluck Dinner
The scouts and venturers have been asked to join the other sections for a potluck dinner on December 5th. Please mark this on your calendars. I will be posting more details regarding what course each section should be bringing (i.e. main, side or dessert)
Company hike in the Hills
This Saturday, the Venturers are planning an afternoon hike to the Brandon Hills. The plan is to meet at the parking area at 1 pm and hike the "A" loop stopping at the warming shelter for a hot drink and snack. Expected time of return is between 2:30 and 3 pm, at the parking area.
This will be an unsupervised hike. Venturers are still require to have signed permission forms which have been forwarded by company president, Hector Robinson.
Each Venturer is expect to check in with Scouter Bruce when they return home. Have fun and be safe.

Santa Claus parade
Thanks to the Venturers for helping out with the float decorations. And to Mr. William Fraser for supplying us with the truck and trailer.
